Shepherd’s Hut’s 2025 New Releases

Quietly becoming one of the Great Southern’s most exciting producers, Shepherd’s Hut combines exceptional Porongurup fruit with the winemaking expertise of Rob Diletti and the next-generation vision of Laura Wishart.

Award-winning Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, including the 2023 Michael Mayo Pinot Noir, winner of the Best Pinot Noir Trophy at the 2024 Wine Show of Western Australia.

A rare opportunity to experience the newly released 2024 and 2025 Estate and Heritage wines through vertical tastings across the prestigious Heritage range, plus the Gold Medal-winning “The Hut” Riesling 2025.

“Shepherd’s Hut wines is named after an 1850s stone hut found in ruins on an adjacent property to the vineyard. In the mid-90s, founder Dr Michael Wishart (and family) restored the hut, which still features honey-coloured Mount Barker stone, all the while establishing riesling, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, shiraz and cabernet sauvignon. Most of the grapes are sold to other makers in the region, but those retained make high quality wine at mouth-watering prices thanks to the skill of winemaker Rob Diletti.”

- JAMES HALLIDAY

“Take this insider's tip: If Rob Diletti has anything to do with the winemaking, they are going to be very, very good. As these are.”

- ERIN LARKIN

A snippet from Erin Larkin’s
article on the Great Southern:

Porongurup, to the northeast (broadly speaking) of Denmark, is a region better known for Riesling (and with good reason, I believe that the best of the Porongurup Rieslings rate amongst the very best in the country), however the pinot vines are still gaining age and with it, reputation.

The best examples come from Castle Rock, Shepherd’s Hut (both featured in the below tasting, however the Shepherds Hut coming out just on top by a whisker) and others.

About Laura Wishart:

Laura Wishart is the third-generation custodian of Shepherd’s Hut, taking over management of the family vineyard and its 18 hectares of vines in 2021. After working a vintage in the Great Southern straight out of high school, Laura studied business and agriculture before returning home.

She has become the driving force behind Shepherd’s Hut. Working alongside winemaker Rob Diletti, Laura’s proudest achievement has been creating the Heritage Series, a range she conceived as a chance to explore the full potential of Shepherd's Hut fruit. The Hut' Reserve Riesling 2023 won the trophy for Best Single Vineyard Wine from the Great Southern, and the also Reserve ‘Michael Mayo’ 2022 & 2023 Pinot Noirs have won consecutive trophies for Best Pinot Noir at The Wine Show of WA, Mt Barker, the largest annual judging of WA’s wines.

"The potential of our vineyard is incredible - the fruit we grow is amazing, and it's exciting to be part of something that's all about bringing out the best in those grapes."

Plush, ripe strawberry-tinged fruit on the nose. With air, dark cherry fruit, textural tannins and refreshing acidity all combine into a rather splendid drink. Something to be sipped and savoured.

"A wine that focuses on ripe, high-quality fruit. Cherry and strawberry come to mind, supported by subtle oak and the finest of tannins. Almost delicate in complexion, this is a charming, high-quality wine which is immensely enjoyable, with excellent length and persistence on the close."
