The land where Juniper stands has a rich story to tell. Back in the 1800s, the road from Busselton to Augusta crossed the Wilyabrup Brook, right where our estate now sits. The vineyard block itself was created through a subdivision by the Juniper family - celebrated Western Australian artists - whose name we proudly carry today.
Our vineyard was first planted in 1973, making it one of the original sites in Margaret River, alongside pioneers such as Vasse Felix, Cape Mentelle, Cullen, Moss Wood and Woodlands. In 1998, Juniper was founded by the late Roger Hill and his wife, Gillian Anderson, with a vision to craft world-class wines.
That vision, passion and spirit remain at the heart of Juniper today. Wine quality, genuine service and meaningful connection continue to guide everything we do.
At Juniper, we honour the history of Margaret River while embracing innovation to craft wines that reflect their time and place. In the vineyard, every block is carefully tended by hand, and in the winery we take a minimal-intervention approach to preserve the individuality of each parcel. Thoughtful blending and oak maturation add depth and refinement, while keeping the wines approachable and expressive. Whether for the collector or the casual drinker, our wines are made to be both memorable and enjoyable.

After completing Oenology at the University of Adelaide in 2008, Andrew has worked in Mosel (Germany), Burgundy (France) and Chianti Classico (Italy) as well as Adelaide Hills, Yarra Valley and Margaret River.
In 2011 Andrew took on a winemaking role at De Bortoli, Yarra Valley with responsibility for the white wine program and in 2017 made the move to Deep Woods Estate as Senior Winemaker to return to his home state and continue to build on the success of Deep Woods.
Andrew was appointed Head Winemaker at Juniper Estate in 2023, and is passionate about working with estate grown wines which showcase our proud history and some of the oldest vines in Margaret River.

2023 Juniper Estate Cornerstone Wilyabrup Chardonnay
The delicacy, fragrance and purity of this great vintage are capture exquisitely in this outstanding chardonnay. Follows a similar pat to the Karridale in that it is hand-picked, wild yeast fermented and matured for 10 months in oak before the best barrels are chosen. Fragrant lightly floral notes on the nose. The palate really is impressive with a lightly toasty struck match complexity, lemon curd and quince with a little spicy savoury thing happening on the finish.

2024 Juniper Estate Cornerstone Wilyabrup Chardonnay
This has established itself right in the top tier of Margaret River Chardonnay since it was introduced a few years ago. It was hand-picked and then wild yeast fermented before spending about 10 months in French oak. There is the immense and intense power that is Wilyabrup Chardonnay, a mix of quince paste, citrus, and grapefruit on the nose with just a slightly edgy cut lime to balance. The palate drives with a deep lingering intensity, with the slightly savoury fruit supported by a balancing chalky acidity. It's a first-rate wine from a season that did produce some excellent Chardonnays.

2021 Juniper Estate Cornerstone Karridale Chardonnay
This comes from a vineyard planted down south at Karridale in 1997. The cooler climate vineyard has been further influenced by the cooler vintage. It's the result of best barrel selection. The nose of lemon rind and grapefruit with a subtle almond mealiness is appealing. The palate combines texture with a defined linear feel, accentuated by a chalky acidity and fine-grained oak influence.

2022 Juniper Estate Canvas Tempranillo
What’s great about the Canvas wines is that they're well made with an emphasis on drinkability. This joven style is jam-packed with exuberant red fruits, cherry-berry cola, sarsaparilla and those distinct woodsy spices, not from oak – just part of the variety’s DNA. It’s refreshing and vibrant, and the tannins are quite precise and a little textural. Loads of fun.

This Margaret River malbec is all about bright, vivacious purpley fruits that deliver a real kick of flavour, along with lovely balance and slurpy drinkability. There’s a 20% component of whole bunch here adding some funk and swagger and the acidity and tannins bring a decent drive of freshness and grip.A vivid and deep purple red in the glass. Plush and lifted aromas of blueberry, dark cherry, cassis, briar, earth and spice. Juicy, dark fruited, firm and structured. A really enjoyable and youthful fruit-driven red with juicy mouth-feel and vibrancy.

2022 Juniper Estate ‘Three Fields’ Cabernet Sauvignon
An elegant, refined and lovely wine. Brimming with all the good regional cabernet flavours of mulberries and cassis, spiced boysenberries, a dusting of cocoa and just the right amount of leafy/herbal freshness. Sure, there’s cedary oak in the mix (the wine’s aged 14 months in French barriques, 30% new), but the fruit has sucked it up. Fuller bodied, the tannins are textural, almost grainy and ripe, and the finish lingers. Impressive.

2019 Juniper Estate Cornerstone (Wilyabrup) Cabernet Sauvignon
All cabernet, all Houghton clone, all classy. There's a whorl of excellent fruit – cassis, currants, blackberries and mulberries – tamed by woodsy spices, a carapace of oak perfectly suited, too, fresh herbs and more besides. Still in a youthful phase even for a cabernet with a few years under its belt. The tannins are rich, textural and plentiful and acidity leads this to a resounding finish.

2016 Juniper Estate 'The Tribute' Cabernet Sauvignon
A sophisticated and polished red with aromas of chocolate, dark raspberries, cherry stones and dried mint, with some cedar. Full-bodied and nicely filled in, with firm and well-integrated tannins giving plenty of structure. Long and seductive. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

2016 Juniper Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
Cold soak (4 days), 16 to 36 days on skins, mlf, maturation in French barriques for 20 months (50% new). A single vineyard cabernet sauvignon with just a little help from its friends: malbec/merlot/cabernet franc (4.5% each). A wine for the ages, that is, it would be a crime to drink it now. This will be a test of will. Leafy blackcurrant, blueberry interplay with toasty, spicy oak in the background. Mid-weighted with a real depth of flavour intensity of coffee grounds, wet earth, petrichor and assured fine tannins.

2015 Juniper Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
An utterly exceptional cabernet, as intense as it is elegant with great mouthfeel ex superfine tannins. It’s the lightness and brightness that are the candles on the cake. This estate block was planted in ’73. The wine includes 5.5% petit verdot, 3.5% malbec and 3% merlot, all hand-picked, up to 36 days on skins, matured for 18 months in French barriques (50% new).
